Territory: Ozzano Monferrato
The
town, with its historic center gathered with houses perched on the hill and
"dominated" by the church and the ancient castle, spreads between the
plains and the hills of Monferrato cultivated with vineyards, which can be
discovered with pleasant walks, to be done on foot or by bicycle. to be
discovered a very rich heritage of industrial archaeology touched by a local
and regional network of paths as a reminder of a mining past recalled by the
MiCeM Museum - Miners and Cement Mines of the Monferrato Casalese. Not to be
missed is the Castle, at the highest point of the historic center and
surrounded by a large park. The parish church of San Salvatore, with frescoes
from the 1500s, and the 20-meter-high bell tower, detached from the body of the
church and leaning against a tuff wall, both in a picturesque position from
which there is a view of the Monferrato hills. Bonaria-Simonetti House, a rare
example of a late-Gothic dwelling. The historic village and main attractions
can currently be visited, with a guide, by reservation by contacting the
tourist office or during the "Open Castles" event. Part of
the municipality has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part
of the site " The wine-growing landscapes of Piedmont : Langhe Roero and
