Monferrato awarded at the tourism Oscars

In Rimini on the occasion of the "Tourism Oscars 2023" Piedmont, with Monferrato, Langhe and Roero, an area known for its world-famous wines, is the overall winner of the Destination award with the best food and wine offer, second place for Trentino with the Paganella Dolomites and third for Puglia with the Itria valley and Murgia dei Trulli.

In detail, we are talking about 40 million "digital traces", which made it possible to monitor and examine 876 thousand points of tourist, historical and cultural interest, as well as accommodation facilities, short-term rentals, clubs and restaurant activities in the period between September 1st 2022 and 31 August 2023.

As regards the origin of the visitors who spent their holidays in Italy, there were mainly tourists from Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Foreigners, overall, represent 56.8% of visitors. Compared to 2022, there was a slight decrease in Italians (-5%) compared to an increase in foreigners (+5%), mainly coming from English-speaking countries.

Further confirmation of the efforts made, aimed at enhancing the food and wine excellences of this area, already part of the UNESCO heritage for its incredible hilly landscapes.
